Jokes from somewhere else
There is an article in Der Spiegel about East German jokes that speak to their experience with Communism. The jokes come from the time the people were living with the shortages and attempts to control the population’s reactions to governmental policies. I found the ones cited in the article hilarious. My East German daughter-in-law didn’t. Don’t know why. An age thing?
Here’s one: Did East Germans originate from apes? Impossible. Apes could never have survived on just two bananas a year.
I was still tittering on and off an hour later.
Here’s another: “There are people who tell jokes. There are people who collect jokes and tell jokes. And there are people who collect people who tell jokes.”
Tell me that’s not hilarious!
I have to say I deeply admire people who can laugh at those who want to control even our sense of humor.
