back in Vancouver
So I got back last night and went to my meeting today and am finally back home and decompressing. I did get some new books of poetry that I am quite happy with so far. I’m going to have dinner right now, but later I’m going to put up a poem by Philip Levine that I found in The Simple Truth. Oh what a wonderful poem.

Dismal Nitch
I stopped at Dismal Nitch today, mostly because the name is so delightful. Named because Captain Clark was having a bad few days, it is hardly dismal today. In fact, as I was walking along the river bank a sea otter swam up and dived, curling her tail as she went under water. In sight of the Astoria bridge, it is in reality a lovely spot not far from the mouth of the Columbia.

off again
I stayed in Olympia last night at a friend’s house. I don’t get to see her very often but what wonderful conversations we have!
She’s off to do grandmotherly things now and I am talking to you, but about to get ready to drive out to the ocean. I’m off to the 105 south from Aberdeen. I think I’ll get out and walk for a couple of hours at South Beach State Park.
Sleep tonight? Not sure yet. Isn’t such freedom awesome?!

on the road again
I so much enjoyed my little drive that I’m doing it again. This time for a couple of days.
Heading to Oysterville, Washington.
Will post as I go.
